We’re delighted to be working with a Grammar School to recruit a Reception & Attendance Officer, the friendly face who helps keep the school running smoothly and makes every visitor feel welcome.

Location: Oakwood Rd, Maidstone ME16 8AH
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only (39 weeks per year + 1 week Inset)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week

  • Monday: 7.30am–3.00pm

  • Tuesday–Friday: 7.30am–3.30pm

Salary: £20,000 (pro rata, term time only)

The Opportunity:

As a Reception & Attendance Officer, you’ll be the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and staff, setting the tone for a positive and professional school experience.

You’ll manage reception duties, respond to enquiries, support attendance monitoring, and play a key role in ensuring everything runs efficiently behind the scenes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Greet and assist parents, visitors, and staff, always with a friendly, professional manner.

  • Manage phone calls, emails, and enquiries, ensuring information reaches the right people quickly.

  • Control access to the school in line with safeguarding policies (signing in visitors, checking ID, issuing passes).

  • Maintain accurate student attendance records and follow up on absences with parents.

  • Produce attendance reports and issue achievement points for excellent attendance.

  • Support daily school operations, from managing stationery stock to assisting with administrative tasks.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Confident using IT systems, email, and school management software (or willing to learn).

  • A professional, approachable manner and commitment to safeguarding.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities calmly and efficiently.

  • A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for supporting students and staff.

Training & Development:

  • You’ll receive full training on the school’s systems and safeguarding procedures, plus ongoing support from the Senior Deputy Headteacher and the PA to the Headteacher.

  • This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in school administration or education support.

  • Your apprenticeship training will be delivered by SCCU Group, an Ofsted-rated Good training provider.

  • Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship – 18 months practical training + 2-month End Point Assessment

  • Functional Skills in Maths, English, and ICT (if required)

  • Training delivered in the workplace, tailored to your specific role and development goals
