Sales and Marketing Apprenticeship

We’re excited to be working with Principle Defence to recruit a Sales and Marketing apprentice to join the team!

Principle Defence is an information security and data protection consultancy and training provider. It was founded in 2021 with a vision to ‘end bad security and privacy’ by demonstrating how security can integrate with business and organisational goals to enable growth, rather than hinder it.

Location: Remote

The Opportunity:
This is a full-time, remote role with occasional travel for quarterly team days and marketing events. As a Sales and Marketing Apprentice, you'll work directly with our Founders and external Sales Director to strengthen our marketing, sales, and account management activities.

As a Sales and Marketing Apprentice, you'll liaise with internal and external stakeholders to plan, pitch, execute, and report on a range of marketing campaigns, working across both our Consultancy and Training teams to engage customers and drive sales. You'll also act as a day-to-day point of contact for client queries and requests, helping to resolve issues and build lasting client relationships.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Sales and Marketing Apprentice who wants to develop practical experience across marketing, sales, customer engagement, and account management while learning from experienced senior leaders.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include:

Using insights from market analysis, customer feedback, and sales trends, you'll develop creative and impactful marketing plans that meet stakeholder objectives. Examples include:

  • Re-engaging customers through research-led projects

  • Building sales pipeline through marketing automation

  • Winning key accounts via account-based marketing

  • Creating networking opportunities through virtual training and events

Once a plan is approved, you'll lead its execution, drawing on external support where needed (e.g. SEO specialists, a fractional sales director).

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships

  • Own and execute a quarterly calendar of marketing activities

  • Brief marketing agencies on campaign requirements

  • Collaborate with sales and product teams to align marketing with business goals

  • Working to develop sales opportunities through networking, event attendance, and engagement

  • Act as a first point of contact for client account queries, requests and concerns, working with the wider team to find solutions and manage expectations through to a positive outcome

  • Support client retention and renewal conversations, using customer feedback and account history to inform recommendations and improve the client experience

  • Contribute to marketing and sales reporting, helping to measure campaign performance and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Develop your understanding of sales and marketing best practice as part of your Sales and Marketing Apprentice role

What They’re Looking For:

You don't need to tick every box; we're looking for potential and a willingness to learn.

Ideally, you'll bring some of the following:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoy collaborating with people inside and outside the business

  • Confident presenting, with clear written and verbal communication

  • Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • A quick learner who knows when to ask for help and support

  • Excellent written English and attention to detail

  • Comfortable handling client questions, concerns or pushback constructively, staying calm and solution-focused to reach a positive outcome

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and creative software is a plus

If you're enthusiastic, curious, commercially minded, and keen to build a career in sales and marketing, this Sales and Marketing Apprentice role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while making a real contribution to a growing business.
