Salary: Confirmed upon appointment but will be at least the minimum wage for apprentices.
The majority of time will be spent supporting pupils with their learning and helping the teacher/leader to prepare for teaching or play sessions in the classroom or wraparound club. The successful candidate will also spend time looking after children and supervising their play in the before and after school club.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and support the teaching activities of individual/s or groups of children to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical, emotional and academic development.
Help and support children with their personal care eg: toileting snack times/meal times and hand washing.
Monitor pupil’s progress, achievements, problems, condition and development needs reporting to the responsible teacher as appropriate
Assist the teacher in the development, delivery and implementation of Programmes for individuals or groups of children.
Prepare and deliver programmes to support pupils e.g. one-to-one tuition, group interventions etc following the guidelines and training given under the guidance of the teacher.
Assist the teacher with the planning of learning activities in the classroom or designated areas preparing or modifying work for individuals or groups of pupils as directed.
Use strategies in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
Provide support for local and national learning strategies e.g. English, Mathematics, and Early Years.
Assist with the implementation of programmes designed by other professionals such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language therapists.
Assist the teacher with the administration of baseline/tests and other assessments.
Support the use of computing in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
To prepare and maintain equipment and teaching resources for lessons and activities including the control of stock within the classroom.
Prepare/clear classroom indoor and outdoors as directed before and after lessons, including the preparation of visual aids, and the display and presentation of pupil’s work.
Participate in personal and professional development activities to meet the changing demands of the job and encourage and support other staff in their development and training
Assisting with lunchtimes.

Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Standard, 12 months practical with an additional 2 months End Point Assessment period
Functional Skills in Maths, English, and ICT (if required)
Early Years Educator Level 3 Standard, 18 month practical with an additional 2 month End Point Assessment period
Course level will be confirmed with experience and qualifications
