Qualification upon completion: Level 3 Diploma in Counselling
The Course Aim:
Provide learners with more in-depth knowledge of the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and the approaches that underpin the use of these skills.
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:
• Develop counselling skills
• Understand the different approaches involved in the use of counselling skills
• Appreciate the importance of self-development
Five Units:
Unit One
How to identify, practise and develop a range of interpersonal and counselling skills.
Skills required to initiate, maintain, and conclude a counselling skills interaction.
Unit Two
Key elements of the main theoretical approaches to counselling.
Unit Three
The context within which counselling skills and referral processes can be used whilst maintaining ethical standards.
Unit Four
Implications of applying counselling skills in a diverse society.
Unit Five
Reflection on personal development.
Reflection on interact with others.
Delivery method

The curriculum will be delivered in a learner-lead approach, where the learner will take responsibility for their learning and development. Learning and assessment will take place using the following methods:

PowerPoint Presentations
Leaflet Creation
Witness Statements
The course material and assessments will be accessed through an Online Learning Platform.
The Tutor will provide Individual feedback on every question in every unit, which will stretch and challenge the learner, along with referencing Functional Skills needs and Personal and Career Development.
Support sessions are available as required with the learner’s personal Success Coach and the frequency of this support will depend on the individual needs of the learner.
The learner will be expected to have regular interaction with their learning with a minimum expectation of learning in every month for the duration of the course.

Initial Eligibility Criteria:
Aged 19+ as of 31st August 2024
Resident in UK for last 3 years
Currently residing in the country
Further eligibility checks will be completed if the three points above are met.
